Day 2 of Jimmie Hepp’s Jumpfest went off today with much better conditions than yesterday on Maui’s north shore. Brilliant sunshine, a small out of season north swell and decent 20mph trades brought out the crowds to Hookipa. With the potential of a north swell plus Kanaha not looking that good, I headed straight to Hookipa. By the time I got on the water around 1:00 it was already way more crowded than I like so I only put in a short session (5.0) before heading in to get some photos and video. Surf was mostly in the waist to shoulder high range with an occasional head high set. Tons of folks out on the water vying for Jimmie’s attention. Here’s a few photos that I snagged. Video of the action in a few days.
More photos, taken by Jimmie, here.

I think I saw you sitting next to me on the rocks for awhile…great job! Thanks for covering and putting out the photos!!! See you there later but it will be crowded today…windy!!! Come over and say Hi
Hey Jimmie. Yep, I was sitting to your left for a bit. I’m probably not going to make it to Hookipa today. If the wind cooperates I’ll head to Kanaha instead. Less crowds at Uppers and Camp One.
