2010 Maui Race Series

Seems to be a dearth of information available online about the 2010 Maui Race Series which starts this Saturday.  Here’s what I have been able to find out.

Maui Race Series 2010 Schedule

June 5 – Starboard Slalom

June 19 – Da Kine Classic

July 3 – Maui Fin Company Open

July 17 – Quiksilver Cup

July 31 – Neil Pryde Hawaii State Championship

If anybody has any more detailed information about entry forms, drop me a comment.

It’s amazing how little information is available from the sponsors about this. Read my open letter rant, Maui Windsurfing Shops and Business Need to Get a Clue!

I agree, so little info on the web on this Maui Race Series 2010. I googled it and you came in first :) Good job to stepping up the plate and posting something about it :)

Yep. The local shops are missing an opportunity in my opinion. Neil Pryde Maui is even a sponsor of the event and they have no information about it. I think people need to sign up for the event. Where do they go to do that? Come on Maui shops! Get with the program!

Hey Guys, my husband competes in the race series every year, so I got the info on sign up. High Tech Surf Sports on Hana Highway is the official sign up spot for the race series and has been for years (so wont likely change). They have the entire race schedule and entry fee scale there also. I know that they do have a dead line for entries for each race, so that should also be included there at High Tech. Hope this helps!

Yes, I think Hi-Tech is the major organizing force. They provide the announcer, sound system, judges’ tent. Then there’s the race committee, support boat & jetski, and I don’t know what-all else. A lot of effort goes into it each race day, including by a lot of volunteers. It would be interesting to know more about the people who make it happen, and the process they go thru. It certainly is an opportunity for someone to tell some interesting stories!

I will inform Hi-tech and help them promote the event.

I’d like to check out the DaKine classic coming up next weekend. I assume its at Kanaha? Does anyone know what time it starts/ends?

    Thanks!

Excellent question! Too bad the shops don’t have that on their websites. Yes, at Kanaha – Uppers parking lot. Usually they try to start around 11am, but they always seem to have some issue like resetting the course or chasing down a wayward buoy. Realistically, plan on racing starting later than advertised.
