Crowded circus at Hookipa lately with team photo shoots. I stopped by there today and team North was dominating the water. Tons of sailors on the water, helicopter hovering. Strong winds and bigger sets at mast high+. Here’s the photos of the day. Don’t know about anyone else, but it seems to me that the sail companies the last few years are competing to come up with the most garish color combos possible. What’s up with the chartreuse, cyan and purple? What do you guys think? Liking the looks of these sails in the photos?

Stopped by Kanaha afterwards for a sail. Overpowered on 4.2 in what I would call brutal conditions. Super bumpy, some big waves, but the nuking wind made for a wild ride.
Yuck! But its not the contrasting colors that make me barf – its the panel and seam layout that looks mostly designed by a graphic designer and not by an engineer! I’m talking primarily about the new Norths.
Yea, I agree with you about the panel layouts too. Ugly panel layouts + frakkin’ ugly color combos. Maybe the sail feels really sweet, but the looks? Ugh!
yuk, the north/ fanatic combo makes an easy choice 4 me this year. really a shame when everything just comes down to graphics…
I LOVE bright bold colors, but now we’re starting to look like Nascar, where so much attention is focused on standing out, that they all blend together. And I agree the combinations are enough to make you hurl! Will they offer stick-on labels that say “I like the sail, but I sure didn’t pick these awful colors!”?
What really stands out now is stark white with NO color. How about a red-dirt color theme, since that’s how they end up anyway?
It goes the wrong way. White was Norths identity for years and people like it and recognize the sails.
I am happy that to have the EGO 2009 series in white/orange.
2010 was not as god looking as 2010 except for the blackberry. 2011 – no thanks.
Dear North designers, please revise the color scheme and think about the contrast to the blue or grey water. The panel layout also is creppy, especially the X design.
But it seems that the North EGO is without monofilm again. That´s good.
