Uppers today

March arrived with some pretty gnarly conditions – giant surf on Monday and Tuesday and strong winds. I’ve learned that when it gets monstrously big accompanied by strong winds and cloudy, squally conditions that it’s just not a lot of fun so I didn’t even bother those two days. The reports I got were “cold and scary big!”

Conditions calmed down a bit on Wednesday in both the wave and wind department. Fun 5.0 and logo high for me at Uppers. Thursday was also 5.0 but the wave conditions deteriorated. Pretty sloppy, choppy, bumpy and chunky. Pretty up and down on Friday so we never made it to the beach.

The weekend has turned out to be some pretty tame but fun conditions. Nice 5.0 wind again yesterday. A lot of wind swell so the waves weren’t the greatest and they were down to only waist to shoulder high mostly.

Winds were supposed to lighten up today and 5.3 was a bit of work to get up to Uppers initially but once there it paid off. Some nice sets shoulder high sets coming through and setting up pretty nicely. Sunny skies and warmer temps than we’ve seen all week made for a great day to be on the water today. Smiles all around.
