Unsettled weather here on Maui the last few days with light wind and rain. Thursday was rainy much of the day as the radar image to the right shows. Things dried out yesterday and the wind was forecast to return, but the only decent readings on iWindsurf were at Hookipa and I heard through the Maui windsurfing grapevine that the wind there was super offshore and the wind line was pretty far out – at least during the early part of the windsurfing day.
Conditions are looking a little more promising for wind this morning. It’s a beautiful sunny morning. The iWindsurf sensors seem to be down, but I’ve heard that there’s wind on the north shore.
Maui Windsurfing Weather Forecast
Trade winds are forecast to be with us through the weekend and through the work week. As for surf on the north shore, it’s predominantly a short period NE swell right now – likely meaning sloppy and choppy – not ideal for down the line, more of a backside riding set-up. A north northwest swell may produce surf around the advisory level on north facing shores Tuesday night and Wednesday.
