Kind of a strange sailing day yesterday A new north swell arrived, but rain squalls throughout the day wreaked havoc with the wind at Kanaha. Timing was everything. Get out and get some during the half hour periods just before a squall. Then the squall would start hitting, winds would amp up another 5 to 10 knots. Eek out another wave and dash to the beach so that you don’t end up swimming in when the wind drops to near nothing and glasses off for the next half hour. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.
Some really nice waves in the logo- to mast-high range in the bigger sets, lining up nicely at Uppers. Fun riding despite the rain and up and down wind.
Went up to Hookipa after sailing Kanaha. Not as squally up there. Maybe the swell was subsiding already but the surf at Kanaha looked bigger than an Hookipa. Only snapped a few photos since the clouds started messing up the light.
