The first video of the new Maui north shore wave season kicks off with a rare north swell in August. Prominent in the video are Robby Naish and Kevin Pritchard, including a nice shared wave between the two.

Here’s the best set of photos I got of the action at Hookipa yesterday with the rare August north swell, starring Kevin Pritchard and Robby Naish. Kevin’s raving about it on his blog. He mentions sharing a wave with Robby. Looking through my video this morning it looks like I caught that on film, so [...]
An early out of season north swell has been rocking the north shore the last two days, pegging the stoke-meter for all Maui windsurfing wave hounds who’ve been able to get out.

The big news on Maui last weekend and early last week was Hurricane Felicia. All indicators were pointing to a direct hit from Felicia on Maui or the Big Island. Luckily for us, as Felicia approached she got sheared apart by trade winds and weakened further by cooler waters. So, we didn’t so much dodge [...]
Felicia is now a tropical storm, currently about 350 miles due east of Maui moving west at about 10 knots with wind at 40 knots.
Showers and light wind along Maui’s north shore this morning where Felicia will hit some time later today. Looking out the window, you’d never know a storm is brewing up wind [...]
