This Is Getting Ridiculous

After a few days of decent wind last weekend and early last week, trade winds pulled a disappearing act again after last Wednesday. Calm and flat – great conditions for snorkeling or diving maybe but not what we expect as windsurfers this time of year on Maui. You’d think the PWA had come to town as dead as it’s been.

Tonight there’s a late season shear line that will pass over us, bringing us some rain and probably turning the winds northerly on Monday. My best guess that Kihei might be the best option for wind tomorrow, because I think the wind will be too light and too onshore at Kanaha. There’s a small, short period swell due to arrive too, so there’s an outside possibility for some light wind slog-n-surf at Hookipa.

After tomorrow, looks like more of what we’ve been putting up with for the last month or more – light and variable winds.
