Light northerly winds have dominated Maui this week with winds light enough to make the north shore mostly unsailable. Kihei has been the best bet for windsurfing venues on Maui this week, but even there it’s been light enough some days to require bigger gear than many Maui windsurfers have in their quivers.
Stormy weather set up today over much of Maui, with light to heavy rain depending on which of Maui’s micro climates you were at. According to the weather geeks, there’s a pretty complex set of weather ingredients in play right now and there’s a flash flood watch issued for all of Maui through Friday afternoon. Wind forecast is looking pretty sketchy for the next several days. Not the best time to be here for your windsurfing vacation. But if you are planning you Maui windsurfing vacation and you’re looking for a place to stay on the north shore close to the best wave action, check out www.NorthShoreMauiVacations.com, a new legal vacation rental in Kuau next to Mama’s Fish House, just downwind from Hookipa.
