Another day of cranking, blasting winds on Maui and more photo shoot action going down at Hookipa despite cloudy conditions. Lots of the 2010 Neil Pryde’s out on the water – new Combats and new TheFlys. Lots of Wave 360 attempts for the photographer in the water. Here’s the best of what I got today along and a finishing photo to show how it can get a little congested at Hookipa – especially during photo shoot season.
As I mentioned, winds are blasting. I stopped by Kanaha hoping to get on the water at 11:00 for an early session before the winds went ballistic. I walked down to check out conditions to find local sailor Dean just coming in to rig down to his 3.7. Since I already have a tweaked, sore shoulder from Saturday’s sailing I opted to take another day off and head up to Hookipa to check it out. Turns out winds at Kanaha just continued to get windier and windier. While I was checking it out there, it was only averaging around 26 mph. As of 4:00, average wind speeds were 37 mph and gusting to the mid-40s! Got wind?
