Big Surf

The cold front that passed over Maui on Thursday cleared out of the region, returning sunny skies and ushering slightly stronger trade winds yesterday, along with some left over big surf. I think those who timed it in the early afternoon got an epic session of clean logo- to mast-high waves at Lowers and 4.7 to 5.0 wind. I seemed to have launched about when the wind dropped off a bit and the 5.0 was never quite enough for me to catch the fast, powerful sets rolling in. Towards the end of the day I opted to pull out the video camera and catch some of the action. This video is late afternoon, around 4:00pm and both the wind and waves were on the decline. Also got some action of local ripper Juan Pablo in some freestyle trickery at the end of the video.
